On Wednesday and Fridays our routine changes slightly – children and staff leave the village hall for trips out, including walks to the Scout Hall or other suitable activities. They leave at 1.15pm for afternoon activities and walk back to the Village Hall to meet parents at 3.00pm.

What to bring to preschool

Please put your child in comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and that are suitable for the weather forecast. We have a practical preschool uniform available to purchase.

Please bring in a labelled bag with clean, spare clothes and nappies and wipes if your child requires them.

Please do not send your child to preschool with toys from home; comforters (labelled) are ok to support your child to settle.

Please provide a labelled pair of wellington boots that fit as these will be kept at preschool long term and used in the garden area daily (in all weathers).

Please apply sun cream to your child at home before they enter the setting if sunny weather is expected – we will reapply suncream with preschool’s Factor 50 suncream if you provide consent. If you require your child to use a specific suncream, please provide a labelled bottle in their bag.

Snack station and lunches

We are a nut free setting, so no items containing nuts should be brought into preschool.

During the morning session we offer children a healthy snack in line with the Statutory guidelines of the EYFS with oral health in mind.

We offer children milk or water and a different healthy snack each day for example, apples, bananas, grapes and other fruit, cucumber, carrots, wholemeal bread toasted, crackers, rice crackers, houmous, wraps, tzatziki and cheese. Our healthy snacks are as recommended by dentists.

To support our efforts in providing healthy snacks, we ask parents to provide a similar healthy packed lunch.

Parents are encouraged to include a sandwich or alternative savoury item, a piece of fruit (cut if needed and) and maybe 2 other small items and drinking bottles should only be filled with water.

We ask parents to include an ice pack in the packed lunch, bring lunch in a clearly labelled bag/box, ensure grapes are cut in four to minimise choking hazard and no chocolate spread.
